Molded candles are shaped rather than printed, so the cone stands on the cake as an object in its own right. Six orange traffic cones across the top of a sheet cake makes the construction theme without any icing work, which is the reason to buy them rather than spending an evening piping a road.
Six is a set, not an age count. They can stand in a row along one edge, surround a numeral candle in the middle, or mark out a small road through the frosting with a toy digger parked at the end of it. Under Construction is a theme that children help build, which is half the appeal.
