Plastic rather than paper is not a preference outdoors. Dew soaks a paper cloth before the first guest arrives, wind tears it at the corner where it was taped, and a cold wet cooler bottom goes straight through it. Plastic wipes down, takes a spilled drink without a stain spreading, and folds back into a trunk for the next home game.
Wind is still the thing to plan for. At 54 by 108 inches there is a lot of sail area hanging off the ends of a six foot table, so clips on the corners or a strip of tape underneath keeps the whole setup from lifting. Three covers to a pack leaves room for the one that gets wrecked.
On the table
- Three covers, 54" x 108" each, in blue and white plastic.
- Paper fails outdoors: dew, wind and a wet cooler all go through it.
- Clip or tape the corners; this much cloth catches wind.
- Three to a pack means a spare when one tears.
