Seven inches is the cake plate, and at an adult party it is very often the only plate needed. Guests eat standing, the food is passed or laid out, and the one thing everyone ends up holding is a slice of cake with a fork on a small plate. A 9-inch plate at the same party is half empty and awkward to hold.
The listing calls the stock sturdy, and on a dessert plate that means something specific: a fork pressing through a slice of cake with icing on it is the load that makes a thin paper plate fold. This is the format where the extra board weight earns its place.
The 4.8 from 92 people is the highest-rated figure on this shelf. Like the napkins, it is pooled — shared with the numbered 50th version of the same plate — so read it as a verdict on the plate.
