Black is the most useful cover in a catalog of colors, because it is the only one that never fights what you put on it. Gold napkins, white plates, a red centerpiece and a cake in any shade all read cleanly against black, and food photographs better on it than on anything else here.
It also hides what a party does to a table. Coffee rings, cake crumbs and the wet patch under the ice bucket disappear on black in a way they never do on ivory or pastel blue, which is worth something on a table that has to look presentable for four hours.
Three covers at 54 by 108 inches. Black turns up across the whole shelf — rectangular paper, Octy Round and Stay Put — which makes it one of only three shades you can buy in every cover shape offered here.
