Classic pink is a muted, slightly powdery pink. Against candy pink it looks almost beige; on its own it reads as a shower table, a christening or a spring lunch, and it takes white and ivory better than the brighter shade does.
This is the pink to choose when the room is already busy. If the balloons are bright, the flowers are fresh and the cake is decorated, a loud cover makes the table harder to look at; a soft one lets everything above it do the work.
